Re: buzzing noise

As a guitar player I'm resigned to having the lights OFF at all times, BUT....I'm building myself a new guitar at the moment, & I'm going to make damned sure that it is THOROUGHLY and effectively earthed. We'll see :)

Re: Notes on my replacement Softstep!

Ah....thanks for that mocker! I'll look up BMT, but your link also led me to the MIDI implementation chart (live & learn...) most of which I've figured, but the led stuff I didn't know. Unfortunately it doesn't give the sysex message to turn off the backlighting, but I'm going to email Mr Ostry!...

Re: Notes on my replacement Softstep!

I just received my replacement too - same problem - & thanks again guys. Haven't noticed much difference yet, but mine doesn't appear to have a serial no. at all, just a blank space! I notice you say 'my software'; are you using something you've written in Max/MSP, since I seem to recall your po...

v1.2 manual

Why don't the hyperlinks work in the pdf manual v1.2? It's a bit irritating.

Re: Turning off backlighting

You can keep the backlighting off, but only as part of a downloaded saved scene, in standalone mode. I've failed to save an initialized scene that still puts out four CCs per pad when re-connected without the KMI software running. I think the documentation indicates that this data is not accessible/...

Turning off backlighting

Yes, I know it's covered in the FAQs, & I've figured out how to do it, & save it, downloaded etc. I've just received my replacement SS (thanks again Jon et al), which comes with new firmware, so I've installed the v1.21 software etc to match. Now I want to save the lights switched off, &...

Re: How do you travel with it? Fragility, etc

Here's the update on mine; thanks to Otis P - I got in touch with Jon, sent my broken one back (£16.95 postage), & my replacement arrived today - thanks guys, I do appreciate it. I'll be even more careful in future, but meanwhile I have to catch up with new firmware, new software (to me) & w...

Re: How do you travel with it? Fragility, etc

Well I was hoping to 'travel' with mine to a rare gig, in Brighton (UK) this wednesday. Unfortunately this seems unlikely now since the USB socket has come unstuck & unsoldered from the mainboard! Managed to get the little plastic cover off - the pcb copper's pulled off with the socket, & an...

Re: SoftStep application using 1GB of memory

"If you turn off the backlighting in Standalone mode (in the settings window) and then download to the board, the backlighting will be off permanently, even after unplugging and plugging back in." It doesn't. Not with v 1.1 anyway. And it will go into 'downloading' & loop forever too. ...

Re: SoftStep application using 1GB of memory

Well I'm surprised to find this thread still active, but not that users are still giving up in despair :) I haven't given up with the softstep, but invested in some stick-on rubbery buttons, four for each pad, which give me better control of the four separate CC messages. I then developed (& am ...
