Re: SoftStep locks up after awhile

> When using the long one that came with the softstep my audiobox wasn't detected by the macbook. Switching to a shorter cable it worked fine. That's a drag - you want the longest cable possible for performance! So I now have some strong theories about this issue. If you exchange a long cable for a ...

Yes, I also want to run with just the softstep. In particular, I want to avoid EVER looking at my computer - because it's boring for the audience!

Downloading now, will check tonight...

Re: An example using Softstep with only standard Max objects

Oh, you don't need JS at all. You can just send 'em right to a midiout. I was just pointing to that as it was a place online that has the actual numbers you need, is all.

Let us know here - even though it's a little off-topic - I'm sure the mods won't mind and it sounds fascinating.

Re: An example using Softstep with only standard Max objects

Don't give up yet, we must be able to fix this! I doubt it's the cable, really, at some point trying it couldn't hurt. > I'm not using the SS cooking, so there isn't a reset command. You can "reset" from pure MIDI by sending the two sysex commands that represent standalone off: https://git...

Re: Fancy Softstep driver is ready! I think...

That's super wow! What are you using for your "remember the last 10 minutes" row? And your looper? This is a littel off-topic, but enquiring minds want to know... I'm also all on the "one patch" world, but I do almost no synthesis in Max... it's much more a control world for me...

Re: An example using Softstep with only standard Max objects

First question - is it a mechanical issue? Try plugging it into a different USB port with a different cable... not that this is likely to be the case, but it's easy to eliminate and will otherwise drive you mad. Second question - what happens if you send a reset message to the SS once it hangs? That...

I have noticed that if I leave the unit on over night, it often seems to become disconnected, no matter which patching system I happen to be using...

Re: Fancy Softstep driver is ready! I think...

Grrr, stoopid redirector software lets me use "-" in a name - but then doesn't redirect!

http://ax.to/softstep links right to the code. http://ax.to/softstepdl has the download of the whole repository. And I tested both links.

Whoa, 6MB of Max! Where does it all go?! :-D

Re: LED messages leaking to other LED

I am also using this strategy in the JS driver (http://ax.to/softstep). I'm still not 100% happy with this as a resolution - it begs the question of whether, for example, you can get other confusions by sending other messages too fast. I'd really like to know exactly what one can and cannot do with ...
