Re: Humming noise

I did try the usb power hub, but no success. I tried two different ones too. I know about the backlight issue (turning it off) corrects it. I am just hoping to fix the lighting issue eventually do I can use this baby live (and in the dark) I spoke with Sarah, and they requested I try and fix a groun...

Re: Humming noise

I just started researching about them.

How would that work (i.e. where do I place the GLI in my setup)? The only ones I find are showing two RCA cables.

Re: Humming noise

here is a recording of the noise I hear with the LED's on + my foot near the board + my hand off the computer. Again, if I touch the computer or move my foot away from the softstep or place another guitar cord into the output of my MOTU and run that cord into my sock (so against my skin)........the ...

Re: Humming noise

Someone posted this in another forum about the softstep LED's interference: "My last try would be grounding the gear, as I don't see any ground connection in your setup. Go to an electronics shop, or electrician, and let them make a ground lead. This can be dangerous if you do this yourself. Yo...

Re: Humming noise

Dave, Thanks for the input. The more attention to this, the better. I just wonder why other people haven't been bringing this up. Also, to reiterate. When I have the softstep plugged into my macbook, without my guitar plugged into my MOTU ultralite USB interface, then there is no noise (high pitched...

Re: Humming noise

here are some pics of my setup to see if anyone can help.

I bought a external powered usb hub. However, the softstep can still draw usb power from it without the hub plugged into it's own ac power.

Re: Humming noise

Well, when the SS is not plugged in, the hum is not there. However, when I plug the softstep in, then the high pitch noise kicks in. Once again, only work around is that I hook up another guitar cord into the motu out, and run it into my sock against my skin. I tried a USB hub, but to no avail. To r...

Re: Humming noise

If I were to leave the softstep plugged in, and the leds on, the only thing that gets rid of the HUMMMING is plugging in another guitar cord into one of my outputs on the MOTU, and place it in my sock against my skin. Then the hum is nonexistent.

Re: Humming noise

I think it is deinitely coming from the MOTU. And it is grounding. Everything is going into the same power source. When I unplug the softstep, the hum reduces a lot. Same when turning off the LED background. When I touch the strings, (with the softstep still plugged in/LEDs still on), hum is still t...
