2 pads for volume up and down

Postby simont » Mon Jan 11, 2016 9:59 am

Hi,
In standalone mode, is it possible to assign cc numbers to pad 6 to increase, and pad 1 to decrease an apps volume?
I can get it working using y increment on one pad, but up/down on the same pad does not suit my foot!

Cheers for any ideas

Simon

This is not possible internally on the SS. The keys have no knowledge of other keys values, and there is no type of 'variable' or other such construction.

Without using another piece of software, this isn't possible.

Ok, thanks.
What about a pad just increasing the volume?

Not in standalone mode. You're stuck with Y Inc for incremental value changes.

Maybe not directly with the SoftStep in Standalone, but there are other midi filtering programs that would allow this, such as Bome's Midi Translator on the PC or MidiFlow on iOS. You'd then use a single CC on each SoftStep pad to trigger the increment/decrement through the filter.

Yeah, as I said in my first reply you can't do this without another piece of software.
Those are good paid solutions, but I am partial to the free Pure Data (if you don't mind doing some leg work).

Thanks,
Had a look at all three. I'd better stick to mastering SoftStep for now. ;)
