Need simple reliable softstep Ableton setup

Postby adaptive » Sun Nov 25, 2012 5:20 pm

I'm a Berkeley CA bass player singer looking to use softstep and ableton on a mac air at live gigs. I don't want to do any live recording. I just want to trigger loops and effects, basically use it as a versatile pre-programmed drum machine, hopefully with only one "scene" that works reliably with every .als I open on a gig. I don't think the live or live looper scenes are right for my purposes.

Being a little technically dense, I'm spending too much time trying to learn and program and not enough time on the music part. Anybody have a recipe they could send me for simply setting it up? Anybody local to me hireable for a few hours to help me set up? Any advice about where to go for the simple clear guidance I need?

Maybe just drop in at KMI.
They are in Berkeley Ca. as well. 2325 4th Street. (877) 812-0408
It might do them some good to actually see a Softstep end user !
Worth a try at least. Let us know how you fare.

What a great suggestion. I knock on the door, and Keith answers, very friendly and generous. He passes me on to Carson who answered all my questions. Thanks for suggesting it.

A HAPPY ENDING !!

Glad that worked out for you. Good , kind folks at KMI. When my first Softstep had backlight problems, Matt at KMI personally delivered a replacement to my door. I'm across the bridge in Marin County.

Yo Carson, Maybe we should set up a live online seminar for those at a distance ( ? ) . Just another suggestion!
It doesn't hurt to ask !!
