Seeking Tech Assistance from Power User

Postby HyperHarp » Wed Nov 28, 2012 10:27 pm

I am excited about my new QuNeo but have quickly come to realize that setting it up and mastering it for my objectives can benefit greatly from personal assistance by a knowledgeable user. While KMI Support has been awesome and highly responsive, I am seeking a power-user who is very familiar with QuNeo, perhaps in conjunction with Ableton. I am offering reasonable financial compensation to be worked out accordingly.

I am hoping it will be a matter of few hours of your time that will in turn minimize my frustration and maximize the benefit i can obtain from this great interface.

I look forward to your reply. THANK YOU.

Hi. I'm quite experienced with setting up ableton to pretty complex workflows. Why Don't you explain Anita about what your looking for. What do you want to do with it?

Thank you KinBlu for your reply and suggestion. Here are more specifics to my objectives:

1. Set-up: I want to get things working properly between QuNeo and Ableton, from two main perspectives:
a. Control virtual effects: I use virtual effects for playing harmonica such as Studio Devil (amp), Ableton plugins, NI plugins (like The Mouth). I want to fully utilize QuNeo as a real time controller, maximizing the effect parameters that can be controlled through sliders, patch-changes, etc. This of course can be for other virtual instruments, including voice. Creating instrument templates that can be switched on the fly would be cool if one runs out of knobs/buttons/sliders per each specific instrument.
b. Ableton Dj/clip control: I am just getting acclimated to using the Clip-View, but generally speaking I want to use QuNeo to allow me to play a set of songs, execute cross fades, clip launches, effect impacts, and looping (like a loop peddle). This will mean arriving at the best strategy to using QuNeo for live set improvisation.
NOTE: The first step is making sure I have QuNeo set-up correctly in the first place.

2. Widening my options: There are a lot of tricks and advanced techniques for both QuNeo and Ableton. It would be great to get hip to the most appropriate for my set. This is the case of “not-knowing what I don’t know”. You can see what I do via http://www.hyperharp.com video to give you a perspective of EDM harmonica approach. Given what I do, the goal is to use the QuNeo as the interface to maximize the expression via effects and Ableton possibilities.

3. Working relationship: I would imagine via Skype or cell, that I can interact with someone knowledgeable to assist in achieving the aforementioned objectives. Arriving at a fair hourly fee would be something to discuss up-front. I have time sensitive milestones to hit so having a paid guide is an option I am hoping to get in place ASAP.

Thank you again for your response. Perhaps this works for you?

Hi,
this is just a suggestion, but it looks to me (after a brief view of your video) like you may be better off with the SoftStep than the QuNeo as you are using your hands to play your instrument.
Good luck anyway,
Dave

Thank you, dijidave for your comment and checking out my video. I did look at SoftStep as a possible addition. I used the Mitigator back in the day, and SoftStep looks like so much better. However, QuNeo seems more "expressionary", and now wireless, enables me to not be locked down to a place on the floor. ALSO, have the goal of attaching QuNeo as part of stage wear. It looks awesome. But first- getting it to work! Looking forward to someone interested in helping out along those lines. THANKS AGAIN

Cool,
I found (once I understood the process) that CoMA mode made assignment of controls to SoftSynth & FX parameters very simple & straight forward; though first choosing (or creating & uploading your own) appropriate template(s) for the sorts of parameters you need to adjust for your performances, is very important. With 16 possible different templates you can switch between on the fly the configuration possibilities are enormous.
That being said, I am really looking forward to the v1.2 firmware update which will make creating & editing the templates much quicker & easier.(& hopefully also make my MIDI Expander usefull for something)
I know nothing about clip launching 8-)
& yess, the QuNeo would def. be the better option visually to incorperate into your performance.
Again,
good luck,
Dave
