Slider Wish List

Postby ShofB » Wed Sep 19, 2012 10:37 am

1) Pass Thru Width like on the Rotary. This would be very useful when using the slider to control volume.
2) Smoothing function on the sliders. Since the sliders currently don't produce all 128 possible valued and as such have a tendency to jump from one value to another a smoothing function is necessary. When a jump is going to occur if the user has not lifted his finger off the slider you should output all values between the old position and the new one.

I believe we have Pass Thru Width on the list of things to eventually implement.

We'll definitely be taking a look at the math for the sliders for the next update. It's got something to do with the scaling function we're currently using. Early on it used to be easy to get through all of the values, but this resulted in it being difficult to actually get to 0 and 127 (since the very top and very bottom spaces are so tiny). We figured it's important to be able to easily get the sliders to hit and stay at 0 and 127, so we increased the space for those zones. So we then needed to scale the range between to 1-126 — this math is where the problem is occurring.

Pass Thru seconded for the sliders.

Also, I think that we should be able to link controls to more LED's when in bank mode.

For example, I have my rhombus button act as a bank for the vertical sliders. However, the sliders only have
one input apiece for midi notes - meaning that only one of the banks can be accurately remotely controlled.
