Standalone not working: SS broken or am I missing something?

Hi, I've only very rarely used the SS in standalone mode (almost never in fact) despite it being advised here as the preferred mode for beginners. I jumped right in the Hosted mode, struggled a lot but I definitely feel more comfortable with it now. Anyway, recently when trying to involve Bome MT to...

Re: Any 'trick' to get a fairly smooth fader control (for volume)

Thanks! Yes definitely works a lot better :-) I'm starting to understand the point of the other settings as well now. I just made my first useful use of the gain function as the increment speed was a bit slow so I bumped the gain up to 3.0 and that's perfect for me! Brilliant stuff :-) BTW... 1) is ...

Re: Newbie: Can't get Softstep to respond in Ableton or Reaper??

Well, that's kind of a hard question to answer...what appears in the Device Manager is...tons of stuff!? :? What I can say though is that when it is connected, I have an SSCOM entry under the 'Sound, video and game controllers' section and a USB Composite that I've identified as being the SS under t...

Any 'trick' to get a fairly smooth fader control (for volume)

Hi, I'd like to control volume faders in a DAW but I'm finding it almost unusable as it reacts in a very erratic and jumpy manner. If I set myself a vague target volume like for ex., +-100 (so 95 to 105 would be acceptable), it takes me several attempts to get there or up to 20-30 sec. to do it whil...

Re: Newbie: Can't get Softstep to respond in Ableton or Reaper??

There's just one more important thing that hasn't been yet addressed in this thread, the problem I had described of the SS NOT reconnecting to the Editor. And I mean even without any DAW or MIDI application running at all. Just the SS and the Editors in either standalone or hosted mode. And I can th...

Re: Newbie: Can't get Softstep to respond in Ableton or Reaper??

That's very optimistic of you...I hope you're right 'cause it doesn't feel that way now nor did it a year or so ago. Anyway, if I can count on your help, I guess I will get there eventually! ;-) Let me point out that I do experiment first with the SS, then search the forums and manual before posting...

Re: Newbie: Can't get Softstep to respond in Ableton or Reaper??

Brilliant, that worked, THANKS! :-) Expect a lot more posts from me in the near future as I've decide to now really get to using my SS and not be intimidated by it's complexity, which is what kept me away from it for so long...I wasn't getting anywhere and just gave up (without a doubt the hardest s...
