Re: Softstep and midi keyboard - conflicting messages

You have to set each to use it's own midi channel.

Re: Basic beginner help Ableton

Well I just looked and forgot I am now doing my bypass switching with a Y latch these days. Check out the line 5. Like I said I'm always experimenting with different techniques. It's funny I was just thinking that lately I've been really liking the way it's been switching. I must have forgotten I se...

Re: Synth controll without midi expander

If your computer is already connected to the keyboard, you shouldn't need the expander. The SoftStep is a USB/midi connection. It will show up as another device in your daw. Or you might need to use Midiox if you're not using a recording host.
Good luck,

Re: Basic beginner help Ableton

You might try pressure or pressure live and set a threshold as a switch, I have had success with 127 for the switch. I have it also doing a bypass on midi hardware using the technique too. I don't use ableton, but do use Mobius looper, but the idea should be the same. I think that's one of the great...

Re: expression pedal via pads

No problem. Yes I discovered that indeed each scene outputs a different CC, yeah just what I wanted. :)

Re: expression pedal via pads

Wow I guess I will have to check my output to see if the pedal is always outputting on all selected CC's. Right now I'm only using 3 different ones in 3 different scenes. So that said I should be seeing my 3 adjacent CC's at all times? Even in a scene that uses a different CC for pedal? Perhaps I as...

Re: expression pedal via pads

Just put a modline in each pad preset with pedal and the CC you want, all pads and pedals can be different.
It makes for a very powerful setup. I use an EV-5 also and it works wonderfully.

May I suggest updating all of your SS's to 1.2?

Re: no MIDI Expander thru in 1.2

Geez Ed, wish I could help you with that. I haven't gone the expander route yet. Has 1.2 been working better other than that somewhat important feature? :) Sounds like the midi just isn't tunneling correctly through to Live. You have to love midiox, I mean for a free solution that hasn't been update...
