Navigation pad: 'step-by-step' instead 'scrolling'

Postby jr30 » Fri Nov 14, 2014 3:35 am

Dear,
I am new to softstep 2 and deep impressed about the capabilities.

I use the softstep 2 in 'standalone mode' to trigger 'drumjam app' on my ipad. I use the 'north / south' navigation pad to go through my banks (these are CC messages). After selection of a given bank I press one of the pads (1-0). These pads assigned to Program Change messages. Everything works fine.

My problem: When going through the banks (navigation pad), I must be very careful because of 'fast scrolling' through all the banks (0-127). This makes it hard to select a specific bank.

I wonder it is possible to go through the banks in a 'step by step' modus, instead of 'scrolling' or change the scrolling speed to a slower level. Hope you got it!

Thank you for your help!

Best regards,
Roman

Unfortunately there isn't a way to switch the nav pad to an increment/decrement scheme rather than scrolling. You can adjust the speed of the scrolling in the Settings menu. That might make it easier to hit the desired CC.

Thank you for the support.
You mean the Keys Tab (settings). Which parameter to edit and which value you suggest: 'Y Inc Speed' or 'on thresh' North and South ?

Thank you!

That would be the y inc setting.

Thank you. I have tried the settings, but still hard to navigate.
So I changed my mind and want to make pad 9 and pad 0 to send the CC message.

But how things work?
- pad 9 should 'count' 1 down (from current value)
- pad 10 should 'count' 1 up (from current value)
I don't want to use the x/y axis. Just a standard press on any of that pads.

Any ideas how to realize?
Thanks again,
Roman

The SS cant share values across pads, you'd have to use a third party software to do something like this.
You can use the Counter inc/dec settings in hosted mode to do this on one key.
Unfortunately, the hardware cannot have multiple pads modifying the same value.

Thank you for your support.
I have done it with X axis of pad 0. For me its easier to navigate X instead of Y and have a better view on the 4-digit LED to see the changes.
Again, thank you!
