I just started using the 12 step again and noticed the lights stop flashing after 6 flashes and they come on with two different iPhones with wired power using the usb adapter but they just keep flashing when I use the same set up with two different iPads. Problem solved after I switched from the iPhone wall wart to the iPad wall wart. It just was not getting enough power.

Yeah, the flashing LEDs indicate the device is nor receiving enough power. Use the power supply that provides that successfully powers the device and you should be fine.
