The upcoming build does everything in shared mode - it has to transfer sysex to the device rather slowly, but it now works with no mode switching.jkroll wrote: I would choose option 2, shared access for setting parameters. If reconnecting in shared mode is a problem (like you said, device ID might change etc.) then maybe you can have the user reconnect the device manually after flashing.
I am aware of the minor gui glitch with "sensitivity" - I am trying to not touch anything other than the linux midi code at the moment, as I currently cannot build the linux or mac versions to make sure I dont break them. My laptop has a windows install on it and I will eventually get it able to build the editor so I can do some of that work as well. I added an open issue for this so we can keep track of fixing it.jkroll wrote: The word "Sensitivity" below the "Global Sensitivity" knob is partially clipped. Other than that the UI looks fine. As I don't have the hardware yet, I couldn't test any more than that. I think I will wait until at least an officially supported version of the editor, including source, is available.
As for waiting for an officially supported version - I don't know if there ever will be such a beast - AFAIK currently the only Linux developer on the project is a volunteer. That said my intent is to have the Linux version of the editor on par with the others, and the KMI team has stated they will open the source completely once things look good for Linux support.
